Manchester United’s global fan base is highlighted by the presence of season ticket holders from 42 different countries. Around 7% of the club’s 46,800 season ticket holders reside outside the UK, with supporters from diverse locations such as Bahrain, Bermuda, New Delhi, and New York making their way to Old Trafford. Notably, the Republic of Ireland boasts the highest number of overseas season ticket holders at 1,616, followed by Norway with 837 fans holding tickets.

Further expanding the club’s reach, Malta, a small Mediterranean island with a population of 570,000, has 185 season ticket holders, making it the third highest on the list. Other countries represented include Denmark (95), Switzerland (73), Sweden (62), Iceland (23), the Netherlands (22), Belgium (20), and Poland (8).

Fans from distant corners of the world also show their allegiance, with Australia having seven season ticket holders, Thailand with 13, the USA with 66, and Canada with 10. Single season ticket holders are scattered across countries like Italy, Croatia, India, and Russia.

Joe Tedesco, President of the Manchester United Supporters’ Club Malta, expressed surprise at the decrease in Malta’s season ticket holders, citing the impact of COVID-19 and high travel costs as contributing factors. Notably, flight prices to the UK have soared, making it challenging for fans to attend matches due to fluctuating game schedules.

Additionally, there are 209 season tickets registered outside Europe, with the USA having the most fans in locations such as New York, Illinois, California, Texas, and Virginia. Despite the geographical distance, fans do not attend every match physically, as all season tickets are digital and accessible through a phone app. The club enforces a requirement for season ticket holders to use their tickets for at least 16 out of 19 league games per season.

With over 330 supporters’ clubs worldwide, Manchester United fans often share season tickets among club members based on availability for travel. Notably, Thai MUSC, one of the largest supporters’ clubs in Asia, emphasizes the convenience of season tickets for securing prime seating and the club’s practice of donating tickets to the Manchester United Foundation when not utilized by members.
