“Samsung Devices Encounter Screen Flickering in Gmail App”

Owners of various devices, including Samsung models, are encountering screen flickering issues while using the Gmail app. Some users have reported text disappearing or being replaced by blank white boxes within their emails. Frustrated individuals have taken to social media platforms to express their discontent with the situation.

One user named Jeremiah shared his dissatisfaction on X, addressing Gmail directly and highlighting the ongoing flickering problem on his Samsung Fold. Similar grievances have surfaced on Google’s support forums, with users expressing their struggles to read emails due to the persistent screen flickering.

Google product expert Kimiya Kitani has identified the root cause of the problem to be related to Android System WebView, an essential component that enables apps to display web content internally. Kitani mentioned that certain devices, particularly Samsung tablets, are experiencing intermittent issues with Android System WebView, which has been reported to Google for resolution.

Although the exact number of affected users remains uncertain, reports indicate that Samsung foldable devices like the Galaxy Z Fold series and specific Galaxy tablets are among the most impacted. As a temporary measure, Kitani suggests rotating the device to alleviate the flickering problem, providing a simple workaround for users experiencing the issue.

The recommended solution involves opening emails in portrait mode, rotating the device to landscape mode until the screen stabilizes, and then switching back to portrait mode. This interim fix offers a temporary relief until Google releases a permanent solution for the Gmail app glitch.
