In a remarkable display of loyalty, a courageous pitbull stood vigil next to its deceased owner for four days, braving harsh weather conditions that claimed their lives.

The dog steadfastly remained by the side of two teenagers who tragically perished during a sudden extreme cold snap, becoming trapped under deep snow. The boys, aged 14 and 19, had ventured out to capture videos in the snowstorm but never returned home. Video footage of the dog standing bravely by his owner’s snow-covered body spread widely online, evoking admiration for the unwavering loyalty shown even in death.

Rescue workers took four days to reach the boys and retrieve their bodies, discovering their loyal canine companion, a one-and-a-half-year-old named Sherru. Viksit Rana, 19, and his cousin Piyush Kumar, 14, vanished near the Bharmani temple in Bharmour, a region known for extreme cold, heavy snowfall, and avalanches in the Himalayas.

Sherru, the dog, faithfully stayed by Piyush’s body, while Viksit was found about 100 meters away after a prolonged rescue effort by villagers and search teams. Despite their preparedness with supplies and camping gear, the severe weather conditions and low temperatures tragically claimed their lives.

Viksit, an avid blogger known for sharing hillside videos on social media, had equipped himself with essentials, including a tent, sleeping bags, and packaged food, for the high-altitude trek. Tragically, the intense snowstorm and plummeting temperatures of minus nine to minus 10 degrees Celsius proved fatal. Sherru stood guard near Piyush’s body until rescuers were able to safely remove the dog.

The dog’s protective behavior, initially displaying aggression to protect his owner, touched many online users who marveled at the loyalty dogs exhibit.
