A student sustained a leg injury in a school stabbing incident that has led to a police investigation and the arrest of a teenager.
Merseyside Police responded to a call at St Mary’s College in Wallasey on Friday, January 30, around 2.25pm, regarding an assault on a student with a fishing baiting needle. The injured boy was taken to a hospital for a puncture wound treatment and is currently in stable condition.
Witnesses observed the arrival of approximately seven police cars and an ambulance at the school gates after the incident.
Authorities disclosed that a 13-year-old boy from Rock Ferry was apprehended on suspicion of wounding with intent under Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act. The suspect is in police custody awaiting questioning.
Police officers visited the school to conduct preliminary investigations and offer support to students, faculty, and parents in the aftermath of the incident, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.
Inspector Ian Wild expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the unacceptability of using sharp objects for harm. He assured ongoing inquiries and support for the school in the upcoming week through schools officers and the Safer Schools Partnership.
Wild highlighted the importance of educating students on the dangers of knives and other weapons, given the seriousness of the consequences for both victims and offenders, as exemplified by the recent incident.
