“Beauty Bay Faces Potential Collapse, Seeks Administration”

Beauty Bay, an online retailer specializing in cosmetics, faces potential collapse as it indicates its intention to appoint administrators. This action initiates a temporary legal protection period against creditor actions for ten days. The notice of intent was lodged earlier this week and coincided with Beauty Bay taking down its website, displaying a message stating temporary unavailability.

Established in 1999 by siblings Arron and David Gabbie, Beauty Bay, headquartered in Manchester, offers a diverse range of products from over 200 brands, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, MAC, and its proprietary line.

Reports suggest that Beauty Bay had been exploring various funding options, including a potential business sale, prior to its current situation. Interpath, an advisory firm, collaborated with Beauty Bay on a comprehensive business review. The company, with a staff of 65 individuals, has not commented on the recent developments.

In a related industry development, fashion retailer Quiz has recently entered administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. The redundancies primarily affected Quiz’s head office in Glasgow and its warehouse in Lanarkshire. The retailer’s website has been deactivated, and customers with pending online orders are informed of cancellations.

Quiz advises customers to seek refunds directly from their banks or credit card providers. Consumers who paid over £100 with a credit card may be eligible for refunds under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. For transactions under £100 or made with a debit card, Chargeback within 120 days of purchase might be an option.

While Quiz maintains its retail operations, it will conduct clearance sales across its outlets, excluding the acceptance of gift cards. With 40 stores nationwide and concessions in New Look and Matalan, Quiz’s concessions in these stores are unaffected by the administration proceedings.
