Bulkhead Interactive Unveils ‘WARDOGS’ Tactical Shooter

A new first-person shooter game has been unveiled by the UK-based team at Bulkhead Interactive, potentially catering to frustrated Battlefield fans. Named ‘WARDOGS’, this latest shooter is labeled as a ‘tactical all-out warfare fps’ set in a modern backdrop that heavily emphasizes infantry gameplay while integrating vehicular combat like tanks, helicopters, and jets.

The gameplay unfolds on a vast 256km2 map where three teams vie for dominance over a single 2x2km ‘Control Zone’ that is randomized in each match, ensuring a unique experience every time.

Bulkhead has introduced a currency system enabling players to acquire loadout upgrades by spending money, such as purchasing new weapons, attachments, and gear. Teamplay is crucial, with additional currency rewards for actions contributing to the team’s victory, including kills, reviving teammates, transporting them to the capture zone, and securing the objective.

In a nod to Battlefield, WARDOGS incorporates elements of destruction, allowing players to demolish structures with rocket launchers and build fortifications at specific map locations for easier defense.

The developers clarify that WARDOGS deviates from Battle Royale or Extraction shooter genres, focusing on delivering a tactical shooter encounter akin to earlier Battlefield games.

This news surfaces as Battlefield 6 faces challenges retaining players, with an overwhelming 87% leaving the game since its launch in October. Bulkhead’s portfolio includes Battalion 1944, a historical shooter reminiscent of classic Call of Duty titles, and Killrun, an fps parkour game emphasizing speed-running and replay value.

WARDOGS is currently available for wishlisting on Steam, with early access anticipated to commence by 2026. There is no confirmation yet regarding potential releases on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S platforms.
