Holocaust Survivor Warns of Parallels in ICE Operations

A Holocaust survivor, Steven Frank, who managed to survive a concentration camp, has expressed his concern by stating that he sees a resemblance between the current ICE operations in the US and the actions of Hitler’s brown shirts during World War II. As the world observes Holocaust Memorial Day, Frank warns that history seems to be repeating itself.

Frank, who was captured in a photo by Princess Kate during the liberation of Auschwitz, is troubled by the language used in Trump’s immigration policies, drawing parallels to the past discrimination against Jews. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the signs of history repeating itself, especially in America’s treatment of certain groups of people.

Reflecting on his traumatic past in Amsterdam during the war, Frank shared how his family faced persecution and tragic losses, including his father’s arrest and subsequent death in Auschwitz. Despite the harrowing experiences in concentration camps, Frank and his family managed to survive against all odds.

Now residing in Hertfordshire, Frank continues to honor a promise made to a fellow prisoner by tending to tomato plants in his greenhouse, symbolizing resilience and remembrance. His granddaughter, Maggie Fleet, acknowledges the significance of these tomatoes in their family history, vowing to carry on his message of remembrance and education for future generations.

Frank stresses the importance of learning from history and passing down these stories to prevent similar atrocities from happening again. Through his numerous talks to schools, he emphasizes the destructive nature of hatred and the importance of choosing peace over resentment.
