“The Witcher 4 Development Delays Witcher 1 Remake to 2028”

After a long wait for a new Witcher game, fans may have to exercise more patience as The Witcher 4 is still in development. Meanwhile, a remake of the original Witcher game, scheduled for release in 2027, has been pushed back to 2028.

Reports from WitcherIVNews indicate that the remake delay was due to the development team being reassigned to aid with The Witcher 4. Developer Fool’s Theory is leading the remake project under the full creative oversight of CD Projekt RED.

The decision to shift resources to The Witcher 4 has caused a slowdown in the remake’s progress, resulting in the new target release year of 2028.

The shift to Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4 has led to the reassignment of Fool’s Theory staff, leveraging their experience with the new engine. Recent rumors also hint at Fool’s Theory potentially working on a secret DLC for The Witcher 3 to bridge the storyline gap between the third and fourth game.

Official announcements regarding the rumored Witcher 3 DLC and the delay of The Witcher Remake have not been made by CD Projekt RED yet.

The remake of The Witcher 1 was first revealed in October 2022 with CD Projekt RED emphasizing the need for patience to deliver a quality product to fans.

Given the outdated mechanics of the original 2007 Witcher game, a remake is essential to cater to modern gaming standards, especially as The Witcher series gains increasing popularity.

With no confirmed release date for Witcher 4, fans may have to endure a longer wait before they can immerse themselves once again in the adventures of Geralt or Ciri.
