Sony Teases Revamped Rewards Program for PlayStation Players

PlayStation players who were disappointed by the discontinuation of the platform’s rewards program can now anticipate some positive developments. Sony officially announced the conclusion of the PlayStation Stars rewards initiative in May 2025, with the gradual shutdown scheduled for later this year. Although members could continue earning points and collectibles to enhance their status until July, subsequent activities enabling players to do so were halted.

Point redemptions will only be available until November 2. In a blog update, Sony mentioned, “Since the program’s inception, we have gained valuable insights into the player-preferred activities, and as a company, we are continuously evolving in line with player and industry trends.”

The company stated, “Based on our evaluations, we have chosen to refocus our efforts and phase out the current version of PlayStation Stars. We will assess the key findings from this program and explore ways to leverage these insights further.”

Expressing gratitude to all players for their support since the launch in 2022, the PlayStation Stars scheme allowed players to convert earned points into PSN wallet funds or purchase new games directly. While Sony hinted at a new rewards system in the works, details remained undisclosed, as reported by All Out Gaming. The blog post emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance loyalty program initiatives and engage players through community activities.

Recently, a Reddit user shared a potential glimpse of an upcoming rewards scheme. User u/streetxrat94 posted a screenshot from the PlayStation Store app hinting at a new Wallet feature on the horizon, sparking hopes for a Stars revival.

The discovery generated anticipation among gamers for a potential new rewards program. Speculations arose about a potential replacement for PlayStation Stars that might offer in-store credits. Gamers eagerly await further updates as the feature on the PlayStation Store is marked as “announced,” with the release date yet to be determined. Until then, players can add it to their wishlist and patiently await more information.
