The union representing WestJet flight attendants has disclosed the specifics of the tentative agreement reached with the airline based in Calgary following a brief strike. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) revealed that the agreement entails a wage increase exceeding 18% over three years and introduces a new “duty period premium” for ground work compensation. Additionally, it encompasses augmented time off, increased food and uniform allowances, and other benefits.

During a long holiday weekend, all WestJet flights in much of Canada were suspended as 4,400 flight attendants prepared to strike, which commenced early Sunday. However, a tentative agreement was swiftly reached between the airline and the union on Monday, leading to a gradual normalization of WestJet operations.

Cabin crew members are scheduled to vote on the agreement in the upcoming weeks.
