In court proceedings, a jury reviewed messages from the former spouse of a man who passed away following an acid attack. Despite being aware of messages exchanged between her and her mother, she denied any involvement in a supposed kidnap plot against the deceased individual.
The trial, involving seven men from London and three women from Plymouth, continued at Winchester Crown Court. The group faces charges related to the murder of 38-year-old Danny Cahalane and a potential charge of manslaughter.
Lead prosecutor Joanna Martin KC informed the jury that Danny, a Plymouth drug dealer, had significant debts to a higher-ranking drug dealer named Ryan Kennedy, also known as ‘Frost’. Frost, currently believed to be in Dubai, was allegedly owed money that Danny had lost through gambling.
The court proceedings revealed various messages between Danny and his ex-wife Paris Wilson, one of the accused individuals, discussing childcare arrangements and financial matters leading up to a potential kidnap incident on January 19, 2025. Paris cautioned Danny about his behavior and the consequences of disrespecting others.
Following the alleged kidnap attempt, Danny messaged Paris expressing disbelief, to which she responded defensively, denying any involvement. The exchange escalated into accusations and threats from both parties, with Paris claiming she had the power to harm Danny but had refrained from doing so in the past.
The conversation between the ex-spouses turned contentious, with Paris warning Danny of potential repercussions and expressing her frustration with his actions. Despite reassurances from Danny regarding their safety, Paris remained adamant about taking action against him.
The dialogue between the two individuals continued, revealing their strained relationship and unresolved conflicts. Paris emphasized the impact of Danny’s actions on their child and threatened to involve authorities and expose him publicly.
The unfolding messages portrayed a complex and tumultuous dynamic between Danny and Paris, highlighting their personal struggles and disagreements. The court case involving the ten defendants, including the murder and kidnapping charges, remains ongoing.
The trial is set to proceed as more evidence is presented and testimonies are heard in the courtroom.
