“Google Pixel Users Face Battery Drain Bug”

A concerning issue is impacting certain Android devices, as users are noticing a rapid depletion of their phone batteries even when the devices are not actively in use. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update. Users have taken to various forums to express their frustrations, with one individual mentioning that they now need to charge their phone three times a day to maintain battery life.

The battery bug appears to be affecting Google’s Pixel phone lineup, with the tech giant acknowledging the issue and working on a solution. Affected devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A.

According to insights from 9to5Google, the root cause of the problem is attributed to excessive CPU wakeups, leading to continuous background operation even when the device is idle with the screen off.

The issue has caused significant inconvenience for users. For instance, one user named Phil shared, “Both my Pixel 7A and my wife’s have been experiencing this problem since mid-March. The phones abruptly drop from 20% to 0, charge slowly, and lose battery power even when powered off.”

Another Pixel owner, Fz, reported, “After the March update, my Pixel 9 Pro XL started exhibiting battery drain issues. I now need to charge my phone three times a day post-update. The battery depletes overnight even when the phone is not in use, which is extremely frustrating.”

However, not all Pixel users are encountering this problem. Warren confirmed, “No battery drain issues with my Pixel 9 Pro. It was fully charged at 6:30 am and remains at 79% as of 3:20 pm.”

Google is expected to address and resolve this battery drain concern promptly through a software update. Updates on this matter will be provided as soon as new information becomes available.
