Approximately 150 corgis gathered for an international event in Vilnius, Lithuania, celebrating the small herding dogs that have their origins in Wales. The fifth Corgi Race Vilnius featured various activities such as a costume parade, a competition to find the “smartest nose,” and a contest for the loudest bark.

Participants from nine countries, including Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Estonia, Germany, Ukraine, Czech Republic, the United States, and Britain, where the breed is closely associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II, showcased their corgis. Organizers noted a significant increase in participation compared to previous years.

In the final running event, American corgi GG, also known as Gustave the Girl Dog, emerged as the winner, with Mr. Corgington from the U.S. finishing a close second and Lithuania’s Moka, a former two-time champion, securing third place. The event also featured activities beyond racing, including a costume parade with creative outfits, a challenge to find hidden treats, and a competition to determine the loudest bark.

One notable participant was Duke, a 12-year-old Pembroke Welsh corgi from England, who, despite not racing due to age, showcased his bark in the competition. The event attracted both new participants and seasoned veterans, with some corgis having attended every edition of the race in Vilnius.
