In a match in Orlando, Florida, Thibeault, a 29-year-old from Shawinigan, Quebec, defeated Australia’s Desley Robinson with a unanimous decision, each judge scoring the fight 100-90. This victory made Thibeault the first Canadian woman to become a unified professional world champion, adding Robinson’s IBF and WBO middleweight titles to the Ring Magazine belt.
Remarkably, Thibeault achieved this milestone in just five professional fights, setting a record for the fewest fights needed to win a Ring Magazine world championship.
