Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to face off in a highly anticipated heavyweight showdown, with key details recently unveiled. Initially rumored to settle their longstanding feud in the boxing ring in 2026, the plans were put on hold following Anthony Joshua’s involvement in a tragic car accident in Nigeria, resulting in the untimely deaths of his close friends Sina Ghami and Lateef ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Despite concerns about Joshua’s future in boxing after the accident, the former two-time heavyweight champion is now back in light training and contemplating a return to the ring this summer. Speculations suggest that Joshua may first take on Dillian Whyte before pursuing a matchup with Fury.
According to boxing journalist Gareth A Davies, both Fury and Joshua have officially agreed to the bout. Davies confirmed during a talkSPORT segment that the fight has been signed behind the scenes. He stated, “The Fury-Joshua fight is signed. Okay, it is signed in the background. I’ve got that on good authority.”
Davies further revealed that the anticipated event is likely to be broadcast on Netflix and could be scheduled for either later this year or early next year. Joshua is expected to make a comeback to the ring in June or July before the big showdown. Netflix is set to showcase Fury’s return on April 11, where he will face Russian knockout artist Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
Despite the setbacks, Joshua is nearing a full return to training, with promoter Eddie Hearn hinting at a potential Fury-Joshua clash later in the year or early 2027. Hearn mentioned, “Every fight is dangerous coming off what he’s been through. We are open to the Tyson Fury fight but more likely at the end of the year or early in 2027.”
