Sky has introduced new smart home plans in the UK that feature internet-connected cameras and cloud recordings starting at just £5 per month. The pricing is significantly lower than purchasing a Ring system through Amazon, potentially saving consumers over £100.
The plans offer two options: the first includes a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. This package provides full HD video recording, instant phone alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way talk, and 30 days of cloud video storage.
For those seeking additional security, the Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ is available for £8 per month with a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app features like scheduled arming and automatic arm modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the goal of making high-quality smart technology more accessible to customers. He stated that Sky Smart Home simplifies the use of essential features, making it affordable and user-friendly for homeowners.
Previously, Sky primarily offered Protect Smart Home Insurance, which bundled cameras and alarms. With the launch of these new plans, Sky’s home security devices are now available as standalone services for the first time.
In comparison, Amazon currently sells the Ring Doorbell with Chime for £119.99, discounted by £20. Customers interested in cloud recording access would also need a Ring Protect subscription starting at £4.99 per month.
