A holiday park in Lake Conjola, Australia, experienced a gas explosion that left five people injured, including two young children. The incident occurred on Saturday, January 30, around 7:30 am, following reports of a barbecue explosion at the BIG4 Ingenia Holidays park.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, with multiple paramedic units and an ambulance rescue helicopter dispatched to assist. Among the injured, a man in his 30s was airlifted to Wollongong Hospital for facial injuries and is currently in stable condition.
Three other individuals, including a woman in her 30s and two children under five years old, were taken to Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital for treatment. The woman is being treated for abdominal injuries and is also in stable condition, while the children are receiving care for minor injuries.
Witnesses described the explosion as a terrifying event, with one eyewitness recounting a holidaying family preparing breakfast on the barbecues when the blast occurred. Footage shared online captured the aftermath, showing debris and a destroyed barbecue area with twisted metal strewn around.
