Millions of Gmail users are now able to update their email addresses thanks to a significant enhancement introduced by Google. This new feature allows users to modify their Google Account username, the part preceding @gmail.com, which is utilized for accessing various services such as Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The original email address will remain functional alongside the new one, ensuring that messages sent to either address are not overlooked.
Google assures users that their account data, including photos, messages, and emails, will remain intact following the change. Although the update is currently limited to the United States, users in the UK will have to wait for its availability. For individuals in the US, Google recommends navigating to account settings, selecting personal info, then email, followed by Google account email to access the option for changing the email address. Users are reminded that only one new address can be created every 12 months.
To benefit from this feature, users are advised to check their settings periodically for the update’s arrival.
