This weekend, Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness to coincide with the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament. To claim your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations game on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of the new Fans Reunited campaign featuring Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, Greene King’s Managing Director for pubs, expressed that the Fans Reunited initiative acknowledges the significant role of sports and the pub environment in uniting people. By launching during the Guinness Six Nations and providing a complimentary pint to reunited fans, Greene King aims to inspire connections among old friends over a drink.
Rugby icon Martin Johnson emphasized the special bond created through sports, highlighting the enduring friendships formed and the community spirit fostered by events like Fans Reunited. He praised the pub atmosphere for enhancing the experience and strengthening connections between individuals.
Additionally, the Treasury announced a 15% reduction in business rates for pubs and music venues from April as part of a substantial support package. This decision follows calls for action due to changes in the budget and the conclusion of pandemic-related support. Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson estimated that the average pub will benefit from £1,650 in reduced business rates next year.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, welcomed the government’s responsive measures, noting that the pub-specific support will alleviate financial pressures and safeguard many establishments from closure.
