A significant number of applications and services require a monthly subscription fee for their usage, and it appears that WhatsApp might soon introduce a similar model. According to reports by WABetaInfo, the chat app owned by Meta is in the process of developing an enhanced version called WhatsApp Plus.
The new version is expected to bring exclusive updates and features, including the ability to pin up to 20 chats compared to the current limit of 3. Users can also anticipate improved customization options such as changing the app theme, icon, and accent colors.
In addition to these enhancements, users may gain access to bonus stickers, extra ringtones, and enhanced reactions for chat replies. WABetaInfo stated, “WhatsApp is working on a new optional premium subscription plan named ‘WhatsApp Plus’ for its regular users. This subscription will offer additional features in exchange for a monthly fee and is currently in development for both Android and iOS platforms.”
Furthermore, it is speculated that Meta could introduce more features gradually for users willing to pay for them. Although WhatsApp has not officially confirmed these reports, test versions of the Plus app have been identified, indicating ongoing development.
Importantly, the free version of WhatsApp will remain available, and users will not be obligated to subscribe to the premium plan. This initiative aims to provide users with extra benefits if they choose to pay a monthly fee.
Stay tuned for further updates on WhatsApp Plus.
