Two trains, each carrying around 600 passengers, have collided with a stranded vehicle on railway tracks in a recent alarming rail incident. The collision occurred in the town of Błonie in Poland at the level crossing on Poniatowskiego Street earlier today.
According to reports from the Polish media outlet PolsatNews, a Ford Focus experienced a breakdown at the crossing, and the driver’s attempts to move the vehicle off the tracks were unsuccessful. Subsequently, an Intercity train traveling from Szczecin Główny to Rzeszów Główny collided with the car, pushing it onto the opposite track.
Following the initial collision, a second train also struck the vehicle, which had reportedly caught fire by that time. Deputy Inspector Ewelina Gromek-Oćwieja of the Warsaw West District Police stated that the Ford Focus stalled at the level crossing, and despite efforts to clear the tracks in time, it was hit by the first train and then by a second Intercity train on the adjacent track.
Fortunately, there have been no reported casualties as all 600 passengers from both trains were safely evacuated from the scene.
