President Donald Trump has issued a strong message to Iran, emphasizing that his administration is closely monitoring the situation and has deployed a fleet to the region in response to ongoing protests.
Speaking from Air Force One after a significant address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the US President stated, “We’re keeping a close eye on Iran.” This move involves dispatching military ships to the area.
“We have a substantial flotilla heading in that direction. We will observe developments. There is a significant force moving towards Iran. While I prefer to avoid any escalation, we are closely monitoring their actions,” Trump remarked.
The United States has deployed US F-15 Strike Eagles in Jordan, along with the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, as part of a broader military buildup. This naval group, equipped with F-35 stealth fighters and destroyers, is advancing towards Iran from the South China Sea.
Trump hinted at the possibility of potential strikes on Tehran, stating, “Perhaps we won’t need to resort to that, time will tell.” He also claimed personal responsibility for Iran’s decision to halt the execution of 800 protesters.
“I prevented 837 executions on Thursday; those individuals would have been executed. Everyone would have been hanged,” he asserted. Trump criticized Iran’s methods as outdated, referring to them as “from a bygone era.”
“I warned that if you carry out those executions, you will face severe consequences. It will exceed the impact of our actions on your nuclear deal,” he added.
Amid escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf, where the US has deployed numerous military assets, Trump described the current situation as a “prelude to potential further actions.”
“We hope to avoid further escalation, but they are resorting to violence against civilians,” Trump noted. The President also mentioned his order for an additional 25 B-2 bombers for potential future missions.
Reflecting on previous actions, Trump highlighted the effectiveness of the B-2 bombers used in a prior strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Intelligence reports indicated significant damage to Iran’s program, with each bomb accurately hitting its target and causing substantial destruction.
