“Tragic Boat Capsizing in Oman Claims Three French Lives”

Three French tourists tragically lost their lives and several others sustained injuries when their boat capsized unexpectedly in the Wilayat of Muttrah in Oman. The incident occurred while the vessel was en route from Bandar al Rowdha to the Damaniyat Islands. A passing boat assisted in rescuing some of the tourists from the water.

Rescue and ambulance teams, including personnel from the Civil Defence and Ambulance Unit in Muscat Governorate, swiftly responded to the scene. Along with the 25 individuals on the tour, a guide and the boat’s captain were also onboard during the tragic accident.

In response to the incident, the Royal Oman Police and maritime authorities have initiated a formal investigation to ascertain the factors leading to the capsizing. They are extending support to the survivors and the families of the deceased tourists.

A statement from the Royal Oman Police indicated that the boat, carrying 25 French tourists, the guide, and the captain, overturned, resulting in the death of three tourists and injuries to two others with minor wounds. Emergency medical teams provided immediate treatment at the site, and inquiries are ongoing to determine the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.

Authorities frequently caution individuals about the risks associated with the sea and its ever-changing conditions. In previous incidents, such as a child’s tragic death following a four-day rescue operation in the sea in Oman and the recovery of two bodies in Ain Wadah in February 2025, the dangers of maritime activities have been highlighted.
