A teenage girl’s enjoyable outing with her stepfather turned tragic when she was fatally attacked by a bear in Siberia, Russia. Olga Moskalyova, 19, and her stepdad, Igor Tsyganenkov, were ambushed by wild bears while on a leisurely walk along a river. During the attack, Olga managed to contact her mother, describing the terrifying situation before the call abruptly ended.

The bear first targeted Igor, then chased and caught Olga, causing severe injuries. Despite her distress, Olga repeatedly called her mother for help, conveying the agony of the attack. Initially thinking it was a prank, Olga’s mother soon realized the severity of the situation upon hearing the distress in her daughter’s voice and the sounds of the bear.

In her final call, Olga expressed her love and bid farewell to her mother before succumbing to her injuries. The authorities were alerted, and six hunters were deployed to track down the bears, who were still near Olga’s body when discovered. Olga, described as a vibrant and kind young woman with a promising future, was laid to rest alongside her stepfather following the tragic incident in 2011.

Tragically, bear attacks are becoming more frequent in Russia, especially in wilderness areas where the animals perceive human presence as a threat to their habitat.
