Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced a global recall of approximately 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have faulty second-row seat belt buckles that were not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the effectiveness of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While one injury has been linked to this issue, there have been no reported fatalities.

The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and around 75,000 in other regions outside North America. Stellantis will be reaching out to affected vehicle owners to arrange for an inspection at their nearest dealership. The dealers will examine and, if necessary, correctly secure the second-row seat belt buckle anchors to the vehicle’s body structure.
