“Resident Evil: Code Veronica Set for Remake in 2026”

A renowned classic video game from the Resident Evil franchise is rumored to be receiving a remake almost 30 years after its initial debut. Following the recent release of Resident Evil Requiem in late February, Capcom is reportedly gearing up to announce a revamped version of the popular title, Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

According to industry insider Dusk Golem, the announcement for the remake is expected to happen in 2026. Contrary to speculations about a Resident Evil 5 remake, Dusk Golem hinted that the next remake from Capcom would be focusing on Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Originally launched in 2000 on the Dreamcast before later being available on PlayStation 2 and GameCube, Code Veronica follows the journey of siblings Claire and Chris Redfield as they combat a deadly viral outbreak on a secluded prison island. The game received critical acclaim for its enhanced visuals, engaging storyline, and immersive 3D environments, maintaining an impressive Metacritic score of 94.

Rumors circulating suggest that the remake has been in progress since 2022 and may introduce a semi-open world concept, allowing players to navigate Rockfort Island alongside Claire using a motorcycle.

The news of the potential remake has sparked excitement among fans on social media, with many expressing their anticipation for the revitalized version of the game. However, some fans have voiced disappointment over Capcom’s decision to prioritize Code Veronica over a potential remake of Resident Evil 5.

If the leaks are accurate, the new iteration of Code Veronica would follow the release of Resident Evil Requiem, which is scheduled to launch on various platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on February 27, 2026.
