Prince Harry emotionally shared intimate details of his and Meghan Markle’s lives being exposed to the public during a significant court appearance. The Duke of Sussex, along with a group of celebrities including Sir Elton John, Baroness Doreen Lawrence, Sir Simon Hughes, Sadie Frost, and Liz Hurley, are taking legal action against Daily Mail publishers Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) for alleged unlawful information gathering.
During the court proceedings, Harry highlighted the impact of intrusive media coverage on his life, emphasizing the challenges he faced. In a cross-examination by Antony White KC representing ANL, it was suggested that Harry had used a Facebook profile named “Mr Mischief” to communicate with a Mail On Sunday journalist, which the Duke vehemently denied.
Harry refuted claims of having a “leaky” social circle and emphasized that he took security concerns seriously due to constant surveillance and media intrusion, especially during his time as a senior royal. He expressed how the situation worsened after relocating to North America in 2020.
The Duke revealed his shock upon learning about phone hacking claims against News Group Newspapers (NGN), stating that his awareness of the situation expanded after leaving the UK. Harry became visibly emotional as he concluded his testimony, expressing the ongoing challenges he and his wife faced due to relentless media scrutiny.
