The latest Steam Board Game Fest is showcasing video games that draw inspiration from real-life board games. One of the highlights is the Early Access release of a game tailored for those interested in US politics.
For individuals critical of Donald Trump and confident in their ability to lead the Oval Office, the newly launched PC game, Mr. President, offers a chance to prove their skills. Based on the board game “Mr. President: The American Presidency 2000-2020,” this video game immerses players in two transformative decades of American and global history.
In Mr. President, players take on the challenges of managing the US administration through significant historical events such as 9/11 and COVID-19, alongside fictional scenarios reflecting broader political themes. With a sandbox simulation of the presidency, players can push their legislative agenda, navigate international relationships with countries like Russia and China, and address crises ranging from terrorism to pandemics.
In addition to making strategic decisions, players must nominate Supreme Court justices, handle political scandals, run re-election campaigns, and collaborate with Congress to pass laws. The game streamlines administrative tasks that could slow down the tabletop experience, offering a seamless transition between the broader strategic view and immediate crises.
The Steam Board Game Fest will be active until February 2, offering Mr. President at a discounted price of £16.79 throughout the event.
