“Music Teacher Admits Sexual Assault on 12-Year-Old Student”

A 33-year-old married music teacher has admitted to sexually assaulting a 12-year-old male student. Naomi Tekea Craig pleaded guilty to various charges connected to the abuse at Mandurah Magistrates Court in New South Wales, Australia. She worked at Frederick Irwin Anglican School in Perth and is accused of engaging in “persistent sexual conduct” with the student for over a year.

Craig was taken into custody while on maternity leave, with authorities alleging that the child she was expecting was fathered by the student she purportedly groomed. She faces charges related to sexual penetration of a minor aged 13 to 16 and possession of child exploitation material.

Additionally, she is accused of five counts of sexual penetration of a child under 13, as well as inappropriate behavior with children under 13 and between 13 and 16. Her attorney informed the court that she was willing to plead guilty to all charges.

According to court documents, the offenses occurred between 2024 and 2025. The school’s principal, Tracey Gray, notified parents about the incident, assuring them that there was no immediate threat to students’ safety at the school.

The illicit behavior started in August 2024 and persisted until Craig’s arrest in December of the same year. Police Commissioner Col Blanch mentioned that they suspect the child Craig recently gave birth to was fathered by the student she allegedly assaulted, and a DNA test was conducted to confirm this.

The Western Australian Police reported that Craig engaged in continuous sexual misconduct with the student while she was a teacher in the Mandurah District. She admitted to all charges via an audio-link and her case is scheduled for sentencing in the district court on March 27. Craig was released on bail under strict conditions, including no contact with the student and no unsupervised interaction with any children except her own baby.

In 2019, Craig married her long-time partner, and they welcomed a child in 2022. The WA Police Force expressed sympathy for the distressing nature of the reports and emphasized their dedication to investigating such cases and supporting victims.
