Emergency services, including an air ambulance, quickly responded to the scene, causing significant traffic delays on the M1 between junctions 33 and 32 for the M18 Interchange. One lane is closed, and traffic is queuing due to a broken down vehicle on the same carriageway from J34 A631 Tinsley Viaduct (Meadowhall) to J33 A630 (Catcliffe / Sheffield / Rotherham).”
National Highways confirmed the implementation of diversion protocols following the serious crash that occurred around 6 pm. Investigation crews are on-site to determine the cause of the incident, which is ongoing.
Drivers are advised to follow diversion signs marked with a solid triangle symbol in the area.
