Mayweather-Pacquiao Rematch Set for Las Vegas Sphere

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao are set to make history with a rematch at The Las Vegas Sphere in September, marking the first professional boxing bout to take place at this venue. The two boxing legends previously faced off in a highly anticipated match known as the ‘Fight of the Century’ in 2015, which Mayweather won. Despite both fighters retiring, they are now returning for a second showdown.

Netflix has confirmed that Mayweather Pacquiao II will be held on September 19 at The Las Vegas Sphere, following their success in streaming Anthony Joshua’s fight with Jake Paul. The upcoming rematch is expected to be a lucrative event, with their previous fight generating significant pay-per-view buys and gate revenue.

Mayweather earned $250 million while Pacquiao pocketed $150 million from their initial encounter. Mayweather, with a flawless 50-0 record, will defend his legacy in the rematch, which is sanctioned as a professional contest. Pacquiao expressed excitement about the rematch being streamed globally on Netflix, aiming to secure a victory over Mayweather and bring glory to the Philippines.

Mayweather, confident in his abilities, stated that he expects the same outcome as their previous fight. Both fighters are planning warm-up bouts before facing each other again. The upcoming match will be the first boxing event to headline The Sphere, following UFC 306 in September 2024.
