Justin Rose expressed his aspirations of achieving a career Grand Slam following his victory at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he surpassed Tiger Woods’ scoring record. The 45-year-old golfer, ranked No.3 in the world, also hinted that he is not yet considering taking on the role of the next European captain if Luke Donald opts out in 2027.
Rose, who led wire-to-wire at Torrey Pines and finished with a total score of 23-under 265, stated, “I still believe there’s good stuff in front of me.” He acknowledged his accomplishment of breaking the scoring record previously held by Tiger Woods and George Burns, emphasizing his focus on the feat during the crucial final holes of the tournament.
Despite a challenging season last January, Rose’s recent success at major events like the Masters and the Ryder Cup has reinvigorated his career. Reflecting on his performance in California, he highlighted his improved tee-to-green play and mental strength, boosting his confidence for future competitions.
Having clinched 13 tour titles at prestigious venues like Muirfield Village and Pebble Beach, Rose remains determined to add more major victories to his resume. Expressing his desire to excel in major championships, he acknowledged his near misses at the Open and the Masters, reaffirming his childhood dream of completing the Grand Slam.
While some players like Brooks Koepka are exploring new opportunities in golf leagues, Rose declined an offer from the LIV Golf initiative, emphasizing his commitment to competing against the best players on the European Tour and the PGA TOUR. He emphasized that his career goals align with staying on the traditional tours to pursue his ultimate sporting ambitions.
