Former star of the reality show Made in Chelsea, Jamie Laing, shared his emotional experience of feeling his baby kick for the first time during a recent podcast episode. Speaking on the Nearly Parents podcast, Jamie described the moment as filled with ‘pure love’ as he reminisced about the significant event.
Jamie, aged 36, and his partner Sophie, aged 31, exchanged vows in April 2023 and later revealed in June 2025 that they were expecting their first child together. Since their pregnancy announcement, they have been updating their fans on their journey through a shared podcast.
During the latest podcast episode, Jamie delved into the ‘chemical reaction’ he felt after sensing the baby’s kick, while Sophie mentioned that she had been experiencing the delightful kicks for three weeks already. This revelation followed a statement by David Beckham regarding family matters.
Expressing his excitement, Jamie said, “We felt the baby kick. Guys, it’s like a little foot, it’s a little foot that suddenly went poof into the stomach, and I felt it there.” Sophie likened the sensation to a fish swimming through her stomach, with Jamie adding, “It’s insane, you can put your hands on the tummy and you can feel the baby kicking. I can’t tell you what it does. There must be some sort of chemical reaction that happens.”
“When I feel the kick, something goes through my body, something hits me, some chemical nails my body and the only way to describe it is like pure love. I’ve never felt that pure love, like real pure love,” Jamie continued emotionally.
Jamie’s close friend, Oliver Proudlock, a father of two, reacted to a clip shared on Instagram with a comment, “The PUREST.” Fans also described Jamie’s reaction and storytelling as ‘wholesome’ and ‘sweet.’
The couple initially captured public attention on the reality show Made in Chelsea, where viewers witnessed their love story unfold. After several years of dating, Jamie proposed at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021, where he and Sophie had their first date.
Their civil ceremony took place in London in April 2023, followed by a grand celebration in Marbella with 200 guests in May 2023. In March 2022, they launched their podcast, NearlyWeds, to document their wedding planning journey, later rebranding it to NewlyWeds after tying the knot, which became popular among fans.
After a brief hiatus, they reintroduced the podcast as NearlyParents to align with their new phase of life.
