Mark Allen graciously accepted defeat after missing out on the Home Nations Series bonus to Jack Lisowski. He humorously mentioned that he “cried himself to sleep” when the £150,000 prize slipped through his fingers.
Lisowski staged a remarkable comeback, showcasing a break of 78 in the deciding frame of his semi-final against John Higgins to secure his spot in the final and claim the substantial prize.
Although Allen had been leading the race for the cash reward, he stumbled in the Welsh Open, allowing his competitors to seize the opportunity. Despite starting strong at the beginning of the Home Nations campaign, Allen’s journey was cut short when he suffered a first-round loss to David Grace in Wales.
Acknowledging Lisowski’s achievement, Allen congratulated him while expressing his disappointment, stating, “What a break, Jack Lisowski. Fair play. [I’m] not sure I’m ever gonna win that bonus. [That’s the] fourth time in six years I’ve been second.” He humorously added, “I cried myself to sleep after tweeting that.”
Lisowski, who trailed Higgins 3-1 but rallied to claim victory, emphasized his determination to keep scoring until he secured the win and the prize money. Reflecting on his performance, he highlighted his focus on potting balls under immense pressure and his strategic approach to the game.
Looking ahead, Lisowski gears up to face Barry Hawkins in the final, emphasizing the need to maintain focus and continue performing at a high level.
