“House Slave Horror: Woman Endured Decades of Abuse”

Disturbing images have been released showing the deplorable living conditions of a woman who was kept as a “house slave” for decades in what was described as a “prison cell” room. The victim, now in her mid-40s, moved into Amanda Wixon’s home in 1995 at the age of 16 and endured mistreatment until 2021. Details from the court revealed that she suffered physical abuse, including being beaten and having her teeth knocked out with a broom handle.

The victim endured further cruelty such as having washing-up liquid forced down her throat, bleach thrown on her face, and her head forcibly shaved. Her food was restricted, she survived on scraps, and was forbidden from leaving the house, resorting to washing in secret at night. Following Wixon’s conviction on multiple charges, police released images showcasing the appalling conditions in which the victim lived in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire.

One of the photos displayed the cluttered and bare bedroom where the victim stayed. Bodycam footage depicted the victim as emaciated, timid, unwashed, and fearful, bearing a bruise reportedly inflicted by Wixon. The room, likened to a “prison cell,” had unpainted walls and dirty bedding. Testimony in Gloucester Crown Court revealed the overcrowded and dilapidated state of the family home, with mold, peeling plaster, and a neglected backyard.

Despite denying charges of false imprisonment, forced labor, and assault, Wixon was found guilty on most counts. She was granted conditional bail and is set to be sentenced on March 12. The presiding judge remarked on the Dickensian nature of the case, emphasizing the victim’s vulnerability due to her learning difficulties and troubled past. Wixon remained unapologetic outside court, refusing to address the media’s questions.

Reports indicated that social services had engaged with the family in the late 1990s but lacked recent records of involvement. Prosecutors highlighted the absence of medical or dental records for the victim over the past two decades, underscoring the neglect she endured. Wixon’s defense attorney dismissed the prosecution’s claims as fabrications and portrayed the case as a fabrication of the victim’s imagination.

The defense attorney also brought attention to the challenging circumstances faced by Wixon, citing issues with her other children’s health and education.
