Wildlight, the developer behind Highguard, has rolled out a fresh update for the free-to-play hero shooter across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms via Steam. This update follows closely on the heels of a significant Marvel Rivals update launch on the same day.
The latest Highguard update, version 1.0.4, includes highly anticipated additions such as Field of View (FoV) sliders for consoles, addressing a feature fans have been eager to see since the recent launch. Additionally, players now have the option to toggle Aim Down Sights (ADS) and Crouch functions, eliminating the need to hold down buttons, particularly beneficial for crouching maneuvers.
Moreover, the update introduces new video settings, including the “View Distance Quality” setting. Wildlight has confirmed plans to incorporate the ability to disable Motion Blur and Depth of Field in a future update, ensuring the changes are implemented safely.
It’s worth noting that not all new settings have been translated into languages other than English yet, so international players may experience a delay in accessing some of the updates.
In terms of game input settings, players can now choose to set Crouch to Hold or Toggle across all platforms. PC users, for now, have the option to set ADS to Hold or Toggle, with recommendations for controller users to rebind scope swap if using Toggle ADS to avoid disorientation.
The update also includes enhancements to video settings, allowing console users to adjust FoV up to 110 and optimizing low scalability settings for shadows and reflections for improved performance. Players can now control various features independently, such as Anisotropic Materials, Chromatic Aberration, and Bloom. DLSS users can now select a preset with more options and detailed descriptions planned for the next patch.
Furthermore, the update addresses crash and bug fixes, resolving issues like unexpected input states on PS5, loading problems on slower storage devices, and various bugs related to online user presence and matchmaking. Notably, the update has significantly reduced crashes by 90%, enhancing overall stability.
Wildlight continues to refine Highguard with these updates, aiming to provide an enhanced gaming experience for players across different platforms.
