“Google Alert: Chrome Support Ending for Older MacBook macOS”

Google has issued a crucial alert for MacBook users who rely on the Chrome browser. The tech giant announced the end of support for Chrome on older versions of Apple’s macOS. While Chrome will remain operational on MacBooks and iMacs, users may face security risks as they won’t receive updates or security patches.

The changes will impact Macs running macOS 12 (Monterey) or older. Google will cease providing Chrome updates for these systems, requiring users to upgrade to a newer operating system like macOS Ventura for continued browser support. Unfortunately, some Mac models, such as pre-2017 iMacs and pre-2018 MacBook Airs, won’t be compatible with Ventura, potentially necessitating a new device purchase for safe Chrome usage.

The update is scheduled to take effect in July this year. Google specified that Chrome 150 is the final version supporting macOS 12 (Monterey), with Chrome 151, set for release on July 28, 2026, requiring macOS 13 Ventura or newer. Users are advised to transition to a supported macOS version to receive future Chrome releases and security updates.

Users on older Chrome versions will retain functionality but won’t receive any further updates. Google urges macOS 12 (Monterey) users to switch to macOS 13 Ventura or newer to ensure access to the latest security features and Chrome updates.
