Fortnite enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the imminent launch of a significant new update across various platforms, including PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and mobile devices.

This upcoming update, only the second in the current year, is expected to be substantial, featuring a major crossover event with a popular TV series. Alongside the typical bug fixes and gameplay adjustments, the update will impact all Fortnite game modes, such as Battle Royale, Creative, LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival.

However, players should be prepared for a period of server downtime before they can access the new content. Epic Games recently revealed that update 39.30 is scheduled for release on January 22, with downtime commencing at 4 AM ET and matchmaking ending shortly before.

For UK players, the server downtime will begin at 9 AM GMT, with matchmaking disabled around 8.30 AM GMT. As per the Epic Games server status page, the maintenance period is set for 90 minutes, meaning the game should be back online by 10.30 AM GMT UK time, or 2.30 AM PDT / 5.30 AM EDT / 11.30 AM CET.

Leaks suggest an exciting crossover with the popular NBC series The Office is on the horizon, hinting at the addition of characters like Dwight Schrute and Michael Scott, along with a potential new Point of Interest (POI). Additionally, there are rumors of Looney Tunes characters being included in the update.

Epic Games has also announced a fresh limited-time game mode called Fall Guys Crown Jam for Fortnite, described as a 3v3 blend of basketball, football, and obstacle course mechanics. This mode will be playable from January 23 to February 9.

Furthermore, update 39.30 will address crucial game fixes, including resolving lag issues during Locker and Lobby screens, ensuring a smoother gaming experience for all players.
