A man formerly associated with bookmakers at prestigious horse racing events like Royal Ascot, Cheltenham, and Goodwood has received a suspended prison term for confessing to committing various sexual offenses involving children.
Jonathan Goss, 51, hailing from Harrow, Middlesex, was apprehended in 2022 following a probe by the National Crime Agency connecting him to illicit activities on a website associated with child sexual abuse material.
Law enforcement officers pinpointed two online profiles, “jbaabaa99” and “hard4girls,” engaged in discussions about the sexual exploitation of young girls, with Goss being linked to these accounts.
Upon Goss’s arrest, several electronic devices were seized, revealing images of young girls, some in swimwear, and others unaware they were being photographed, as per the NCA.
The victims, aged between six and 14, were identified, and protective measures were implemented for their safety.
Goss admitted to charges of sexual communication with a child, arranging a child sexual offense, possessing over 200 indecent images of children, and distributing an obscene article during his court appearance in April the previous year.
In a court hearing at Harrow Crown Court, Goss was sentenced to a 16-month suspended prison term and received a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Holly Triggs from the National Crime Agency stated that the evidence revealed Goss’s sexual interest in children and his efforts to acquire illicit material online.
Triggs emphasized that the sentencing serves as a warning to individuals who engage in such activities online, reiterating the commitment of the NCA to identify and prosecute offenders to ensure child protection.
Goss, known to have been present at Ascot recently, has been involved in the betting industry since 2002, working with Ladbrokes for 11 years before transitioning to freelance work within the sector from 2015, having also been associated with bookmaker Geoff Banks and Racecourse Data Technologies.
