“Elderly Eligible for Free Energy-Efficient Appliances”

Elderly individuals born before 1959 are eligible to receive complimentary air fryers, slow cookers, or single-cup kettles through the Department for Work and Pensions’ Household Support Fund initiative. Local councils are responsible for distributing the funds, with North Lincolnshire opting to assist older residents by providing energy-efficient appliances to those in need.

Residents outside North Lincolnshire can visit their local council’s website and search for the “Household Support Fund” program, where various councils are offering these appliances on a first-come, first-served basis until March 31, 2026. The initiative targets individuals reaching the State Pension age of 66, with distribution set to start in mid-September through designated collection points.

Each eligible household can receive one energy-efficient cooking appliance along with access to free healthy cooking sessions. Proof of age and residency within North Lincolnshire’s boundaries is required, and only one appliance is allocated per household. Previous recipients are ineligible, and applicants must provide matching identification and address details when collecting the appliance.

The appliances provided by North Lincolnshire Council are gifts to support the community, with no warranty coverage. Similarly, Wandsworth residents with low incomes are eligible for free home energy visits, offering dehumidifiers and air fryers. Kent County Council is providing ‘Energy Cards’ and household items to qualifying residents until February 26, while Waltham Forest offers cooking classes with free air fryers for individuals over 50 in sheltered housing.
