The latest EA Sports FC 26 promotion excitement continues as fresh content is set to arrive soon in the Ultimate Team mode. The ongoing Team of the Year event introduces new player cards this week, with both men’s and women’s TOTY squads becoming available simultaneously for the first time today.
All 22 TOTY cards, starting at a minimum rating of 94 overall, will be obtainable at 6 pm, adding more reasons for players to open their saved packs eagerly. The appearance of a blue background on a card is already a cause for celebration in itself.
Tomorrow, on Friday, January 23, the 12th player vote result and the release of Honourable Mentions cards are on the agenda. Earlier this week, FC 26 participants selected one standout player from three options in each gender category to receive a special commemorative card as the 12th TOTY member.
In the men’s category, the contenders were Harry Kane, Raphinha, and Yamine Lamal, while the women’s vote leaned towards FC Barcelona representatives Caroline Graham Hansen and Patri Guijarro, along with Kadidatou Diani from Lyon.
Recent leaks suggest that Raphinha and Hansen are likely to secure the 12th player spots in the TOTY, each expected to receive a 96-rated card. Despite this, Kane, Lamal, Guijarro, and Diani will not be left out, as they are set to receive Honourable Mentions cards in the upcoming release.
However, the voting process for the 12th player has raised concerns. Players are given a temporary loan version of the selected player, leading them to opt for the most popular choice rather than the most deserving candidate for the TOTY selection.
While Raphinha showcased impressive performance statistics in the previous season, Kane’s exceptional goal-scoring record and overall contributions have made him a strong contender for the TOTY.
