“Consumer Complaints Decline in Broadband and TV Sectors”

The most recent data released by Ofcom sheds light on the current state of consumer complaints in the broadband, TV, and telecoms sectors. Overall, there has been a decline in complaints since the beginning of 2025, indicating a positive trend. In the second quarter of 2025, complaints to Ofcom decreased compared to the previous quarter.

EE, a BT-owned platform, faced the highest number of complaints in the fixed broadband category. On the contrary, Plusnet, another BT-owned provider, received the fewest complaints, making it the top performer in this segment.

In terms of broadband complaints per 100,000 customers, Plusnet led with only 4 complaints, followed by Sky with 6, Virgin Media with 8, and BT, TalkTalk, Now, and Vodafone each having 9 complaints. EE had the highest number of complaints with 10 per 100,000 customers.

Apart from broadband, Ofcom also examined complaints in landline, mobile, and pay-TV services. Utility Warehouse excelled in landline services with zero complaints per 100,000, while EE ranked lowest with 8 complaints. For TV services, TalkTalk and Sky received minimal complaints, while EE had the highest number of complaints. In mobile services, EE, Vodafone, and Tesco Mobile tied for the least complaints.

According to USwitch, complaints across various services are at record-low levels, indicating an improvement in the industry. Despite being the most complained-about provider, EE showed a decrease in complaints this quarter. Service issues remain a primary driver of complaints, emphasizing the importance of reliable connectivity. Providers are urged to enhance service quality to match price increases and meet customer needs effectively. Regularly comparing deals and switching providers if necessary is recommended for consumers.
