“CBC Curling Team Under Fire for Inappropriate Language”

Steve Cram, a BBC co-commentator, has urged Winter Olympic officials to address the Canada curling team concerning their use of inappropriate language following their 9-5 victory over Team GB.

The Canadian team led by Brad Jacobs has faced scrutiny in Milan and Cortina. A controversy arose when Canada’s third, Marc Kennedy, engaged in a heated exchange with Swedish player Oskar Eriksson, prompting a public apology from the BBC.

Kennedy was also accused of a double-touch violation during the match against Sweden, leading World Curling to issue a statement clarifying the rules. Despite this, the BBC commentary team criticized the Canadians for their language once again.

During a break in the match, the Canadian team was caught swearing near TV cameras, prompting disapproval from Cram and co-commentator Logan Gray.

Following an incident where a Canadian team member used inappropriate language upon scoring a point, Cram expressed his disapproval, stating that the Canadians needed to be reprimanded for their behavior. Gray added that they had “potty mouths.”

At that point in the game, Canada held a 3-1 lead after the third end, a crucial moment as Team GB had two scoring stones, but Jacobs’ team capitalized on their opportunity to score.

Team GB, led by Mouat, who won the Olympic silver medal in 2022, now faces a tough road to the semi-finals after the loss to Canada. They suffered an 8-6 defeat against Norway in the previous round robin match, making the upcoming matches against Canada and the USA crucial for their semi-final hopes.

Even a victory against the USA may not secure Team GB a spot in the semi-finals. They will need favorable results in other matches to have a chance at advancing later in the week.
