British Tourist Joshua Kershaw Dies in Bangkok Nightlife

A British tourist named Joshua Kershaw collapsed at a bar in Bangkok and received medical attention before venturing into the city’s bustling nightlife district, as per reports. The 21-year-old was captured on CCTV during a night out in the heart of Bangkok’s nightlife hub just hours before he was discovered deceased in his hotel room on January 13. Initially, his family from Yorkshire had thought he was in Pattaya, a destination he intended to visit.

Joshua, hailing from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, reportedly checked into Maxim’s Inn hotel in Bangkok on the evening of January 12, with plans to head to Pattaya. His body was found by hotel staff the following afternoon, prompting the involvement of the police.

Authorities in Bangkok are awaiting autopsy results to ascertain the cause of Joshua’s death, as per the Thai Examiner. On the evening of January 12, security footage showed Joshua at a bar close to his hotel, where he was seen sitting with a woman, consuming pizza and chicken.

Witnesses mentioned that Joshua fell from his seat and lost consciousness after collapsing, possibly due to choking on his food. He was promptly taken to a hospital by ambulance, where he received treatment before discharging himself. Subsequently, he was spotted back in Bangkok’s entertainment zone until the early hours of the morning, returning to his hotel carrying beverages.

Tragically, Joshua was found lifeless in his hotel room later that day, with his family only learning of his demise nine days later. A statement from a Foreign Office spokesperson expressed support for the deceased’s family and confirmed contact with local authorities regarding the incident.

His mother, Jenny, from Wakefield, shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook. The family is now aiming to repatriate Joshua’s remains, with a GoFundMe campaign raising over £12,000 to facilitate the process.
