Actor Donald Douglas, known for his role as Admiral Darcy in the popular Bridget Jones film series, has passed away at the age of 92 following a brief illness. The sad news was confirmed by a statement from the funeral home where he passed away on January 23.

Originally from Falkirk, Scotland, Donald first portrayed the character of Mark Darcy’s father in “Bridget Jones’s Diary” in 2001, reprising the role in subsequent films like “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason” and “Bridget Jones’s Baby.”

Meredith Wheeler, a close friend of Donald, paid tribute to him as a versatile artist with talents ranging from sculpture to painting. She highlighted his skills in ceramic restoration, culinary expertise, and gardening, noting his passion for equestrian activities and dogs.

At the time of his passing in Albi, France, Donald was fondly remembered by his community in Tarn for his contributions to English-speaking theater productions. He had a rich acting background, having studied at the Edinburgh College of Art and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, with notable appearances in television shows like “The Avengers” and “Budgie.”

Colleague Toby Hadoke praised Donald for bringing depth and sophistication to his performances across various productions, including memorable roles in “Poldark,” “Doctor Who,” “Poirot,” and “Eastenders.” His final on-screen appearance was in the 2021 film “Nobody Has To Know.”
