“Boy’s Charger Mishap Sparks Neck Fire: Close Call in Louisiana”

A 9-year-old boy narrowly escaped a life-threatening situation at home when his charging cable got tangled with a metal chain around his neck, causing a fire.

Laura Morrow faced a terrifying ordeal on October 19 when her son, Ashtyn Pitts, suffered severe burns on his neck and left hand in Jena, Louisiana. The incident occurred early in the morning, prompting his parents to rush him to the emergency room and later to the LSU-Oschner Burn Unit in Shreveport.

Ashtyn, who was asleep at the time, found himself in a dangerous situation as his necklace got entangled with the charger while he slept. His mother, Lauren Morrow, shared the incident on Facebook, revealing that the charger was connected to an extension cord.

During the night, a slight separation at the connection point led to the necklace coming into contact with the charger’s prongs, resulting in a loud bang that woke Ashtyn up. The burns he sustained were so severe that the chain’s pattern was scorched into his neck.

Following the incident, Morrow was overwhelmed by the pain her son endured and the realization that they came close to losing him. Fortunately, Ashtyn is now in stable condition and is expected to fully recover from the traumatic experience.
