Battlefield 6 is undergoing significant changes to its sniping mechanics as reported from the ongoing testing in BF Labs. A recent video shared on X showcases the new approach to zoomed optical sights in Season 2. Instead of the entire screen magnifying when aiming down a scope, the game will now employ internal magnification, focusing only on the central area of the screen.
The footage, posted by user Battlefield_inf, demonstrates a player smoothly adjusting the zoom with a variable scope while maintaining the normal field of view outside the scope. This adjustment is expected to impact gameplay and performance in Battlefield 6, potentially making it more challenging to track distant targets beyond the scope’s view.
The shift to internal magnification may pose a slight performance challenge for the game as it requires rendering detailed scenery both nearby and far away. However, initial footage on X suggests a smooth implementation so far. Some users on X express skepticism about the resource consumption of these new sights, while others eagerly anticipate the change.
These modifications are currently available for testing exclusively on Battlefield Labs, a closed beta platform for upcoming Battlefield 6 content. Although not officially confirmed by Battlefield Studios, the gameplay clip hints at the changes coming with the new Contaminated map in Season 2.
Season 2 of Battlefield 6, originally scheduled for January, has been postponed to launch on February 17, 2026.
