“Canadian Home Sales Dip in July, Monthly Uptick Recorded”

Home sales in July showed a decrease compared to the previous year but experienced a slight uptick on a monthly basis, as reported by the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA). The total number of home sales in the last month was 43,578, marking a 5.3% decline from the same period last year. However, when seasonally adjusted, activity increased by 0.5% compared to June 2026.

CREA’s senior economist, Shaun Cathcart, noted that beneath the national headline figures, real estate markets across the country are generally moving towards a more balanced state. The average selling price of a home in July stood at $674,819, representing a 0.2% year-over-year increase.

New listings in July saw a 1.6% decrease compared to the previous month, according to CREA’s data analysis.
