The SIU is conducting an investigation following a collision involving a police cruiser and a civilian vehicle in Pickering, Ontario. According to SIU spokesperson Monica Hudon, the incident occurred on Kingston Road around 7:30 p.m. while a Durham Regional Police Service officer was en route to an emergency call. The collision took place at the intersection of Kingston Road and Brock Road. The occupants of the civilian vehicle were taken to the hospital, with one child sustaining a serious injury. Durham police confirmed that their officers were responding to a call when the collision happened and immediately contacted the SIU. Kingston Road was shut down at Brock Road in both directions, as well as southbound traffic on Brock Road from Finch Avenue for the investigation. The roads were reopened around 2 a.m. the next day as per Durham police updates.
