A man is facing charges for allegedly murdering his wife and concealing her body in their home for three days, telling his children she was merely ‘sleeping’. Salko Husejnovic, 31, has been accused of murder, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse after attempting to cover up the crime by setting a car on fire.
Authorities discovered Jasmina Aljic’s remains following a car fire in Kentucky. It was determined that she had died before the fire, as there was no evidence of soot in her lungs.
According to reports from Lexington Fox affiliate WDKY, police claim that Husejnovic fatally attacked his wife three days before her body was found, misleading his children by saying that “mummy was sleeping.”
Husejnovic allegedly sought the assistance of Shelly Boyd, 44, who was dating his brother. Boyd allegedly witnessed the attack but did not intervene, and she is accused of purchasing gasoline used to burn the car.
Both Husejnovic and Boyd are facing charges related to tampering with evidence and abusing a corpse for their involvement in burning the car together.
During a preliminary hearing, a detective revealed that the victim had a protective order against Husejnovic. Detectives visited Husejnovic’s residence after discovering the body, where Boyd initially denied his presence but later disclosed his whereabouts.
Upon searching the house, investigators found incriminating evidence, including clothing hidden in a cabinet and bloodstained pillows in the washing machine. Boyd eventually confessed to witnessing the assault and acknowledged that the body remained in the kitchen for three days.
Reports indicate that Boyd and Husejnovic began blaming each other for the tragic events, with Boyd admitting to detectives that she saw Husejnovic assaulting his wife and confirmed the body’s prolonged presence in the kitchen.
Husejnovic later confessed to hitting his wife during an argument, resulting in her death. He claimed it was Boyd’s suggestion not to seek help and leave the body in the kitchen. The cause of the victim’s death is still under investigation, and Husejnovic is currently detained in Warren County Jail.
